Hi there!

Hey folks
Just a line hoping you're all enjoying this great weather we've been getting lately. That's if you've been able to drag yourself away from the World Cup. What great tournament so far. It's only missing one thing... Wales. People keep telling me it's been too long a wait since 66 for an English win, but it doesn't seem so bad when you think that the Welsh haven't even qualified for the finals of a major tournament since 1958. Still. Like the Murphy's...
Argentina are head and shoulders the best team in it so far, but you can never count out Germany-especially on home soil. I just hope England can produce a big game or two before it's too late. The Owen injury last night was horrific-I was cowering behind the sofa and could't watch the replays of it, having done my own cruciate ligaments during the finals of a five-a-side tournament against a team of skinheads on astroturf (I mean the game was played on astroturf, not that the skinheads were ingesting it in some addictive way!) Let's hope we finally get to see a bit of young Theo, although the more I think about that the more I think my brother in law from Blackpool was just as likely to get picked for the England squad-they've never seen him play either! But what about that Joe Cole pearler. It was so good they should adopt the name Joe Cole as the cockney rhyming slang for goal on the strength of it, as in "What a fantastic Joe Cole!" As my Dad keeps saying, he is the most improved player ever and, along with Stevie G, has looked the best player in the team for my money.
Anyway, with Portual V Mexico and Holland V Argentina today, all this excitement is surely no good for you...Plus the fact I still haven't gotten used to the idea of the new three o' clock kick off. It's thrown my body clock right off (I feel sorry for my Nan who is now having to wait till gone ten for Emmerdale-she doesn't know whether she's coming or going). I'm going to have a lie down.
Enjoy the summer!
Best
Rod
