Global Cooling
Hiya
Weatherwise, what a weird summer so far (you can't beat the old British tradition of striking up a conversation by talking about the weather... Although I do sometimes wonder how weather forecasters break the ice. No good them bringing up the weather or people will think they're showing off. And, conversely, you can't mention the weather to them in case they've forecast something completely different, in which case they'll think you're having a go. Awkward. So if you're ever at a dinner party and Derek Brockway's there - give him a wide berth). I can only assume that the recycling we've all been doing has done the trick and halted the advance of global warming as it hasn't been the toasty one we were all expecting.
But I've got to say that apart from the weather, the last few months has been anything but disappointing for me. Firstly, thanks to everyone who came along to the gig at the CIA in June. What a great crowd and a great night - I enjoyed it from start to finish and hope you did too.
If you were there, you may recall I finished the first section with a bit of a ditty called Keep Wales Tidy which is all about what an incredible year it's been for Wales with the rise and/or renaissance of rugby, Duffy, the City, Gav and Stacey, Barry and "Tidy" (bizarrely all these things end with a 'y.' If Joe Calzaghe had one on the end of his name I would have thought I had just uncovered some massive conspiracy theory!) Anyway, a few people have asked me if there are any plans for the song and I'm pleased to say that we've been busying away at Shabbey Road studios for the last few weeks and are all delighted with the finished article. So for details watch this space, if not the shelves of all mediocre record stores - and incidentally why do they still say RECORD stores? Surely that needs updating. Who should I tell about that? Actually no. If it aint broke don't fix it. I still like going to the VIDEO shop.
When it comes to any technological advancements I have to be dragged kicking and screaming to the next level and this website is a case in point. You may have noticed that it's got a completely new look and for that I have to thank my web designer Keith Harris ("You're the man!" Sorry, I've been watching the golf for the last few days, but it seemed more appropriate than "It's in the hole!") and wife Debbie who nag- nay motivated me to bring things up to speed and then did a lot of the legwork. But I have to say it was well worth it.
So that's about it. I'll leave you to have a look round. I'm off to deliberately put a plastic bottle into my paper recycling bag. Naughty I know but something has to be done to kick start this global warming again. I want to have a BBQ!
Best
Rod
